The Mister C’s team attended the National Fish & Chip Awards on Thursday, 26 January 2017, in London at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London. The event is widely known as the “Oscars” of the fish frying industry and will be celebrating its 29th year of this prestigious industry event.
Mister C’s were among an elite 5 who had been judged by the industry experts to be recognised as the UK’s Best Fish & Chip Restaurants of the year 2017. The winner this year was Harbour Lights of Falmouth, Cornwall. Mark Corbally, Director of Mister C’s said “we were obviously disappointed to not have won the UK Best Restaurant category, but we are very proud to be runners up and congratulations to the Harbour Lights team”
The other three businesses in the category of Best Fish & Chip Restaurant were The Fisherman’s Wife in Whitby; Pelican Fish & Chips in Devon and Seafresh Restaurant in Victoria, London.
The preliminary stages have been thorough and Mister C’s Directors, Mark & Denise Corbally, were thrilled to get to the final 5, the restaurants have been appraised by industry experts across a wide variety of judging criteria including, responsible sourcing policies, menu diversification, restaurant facilities and appearance, staff training and development practices, and marketing and promotional activity. They have also received mystery shopping assessments to ascertain customer service levels and the quality of the fish and chips on offer.
Mister C’s Fish & Chip Takeaway and Restaurant celebrated 35 years in business last summer and is still run today by the same family – husband and wife team Mark & Denise Corbally and their son, Danny and his wife Amy.
The family have prided themselves on providing the very best quality fish & chips and have received industry recognition as a top 5 Fish & Chip Restaurant and also voted best Takeaway in the North East by the National Fish & Chip Awards for the last 2 years running. Manager, Amy has also been recognised personally has the England’s top young frier in the 2016 awards.
