Mister C’s Waitress Wingwalking for the Fisherman’s Mission
The Mister C’s Team is looking forward to an aerial treat this weekend, when on Saturday 14th May, Vicky Maclachlan, Waitress & Counter Assistant will complete a Wingwalk at Breighton Airfield.
Vicky has been fundraising for the event over the last few months to raise money for the Fisherman’s Mission, a charity close to the hearts of many at Mister C’s who appreciate the role of the fisherman in providing us with great Fish & Chips.
The Fishermen’s Mission is the only fishermen’s charity that provides emergency support alongside practical, financial, spiritual and emotional care. The charity helps all fishermen, active or retired, and their families. The charity helps fishermen who have been in an accident, are taken ill, face poverty, are bereaved or simply need someone to talk to.
Fishing remains the most dangerous peacetime occupation in the UK; that’s why this is such an important charity and one Vicky wants to help.
Vicky’s Wingwalk, which takes place at 1.30pm on Saturday, will involve standing on the wing of a 1940’s Boeing Stearman Biplane flown by a highly qualified pilot. The plane has a rig which is fixed to the top wing of the Stearman, the Rig has been designed to make the Wingwalk or wing-ride as comfortable as possible with a special 5-position Safety Harness strapping the Wingwalker securely in place.
Vicky will also be celebrating her 34th birthday on Saturday, and will complete a variety of flypasts and manoeuvres with the highlight being a dive from 500ft and a zoom climb with a final “Run and Break” before landing.
Vicky has so far raised over £1000, with the help and support of Mister C’s and the Hub Café in Market Place, Selby, where there are sponsor sheets and collection boxes for the Wingwalk.
Good Luck Vicky!
